For the imperfect Fashion lover.

What to Wear When it's Raining.

Much as I love the vast array of interesting and stylish coats available at this time of year, many of my outfits end up being 'finished' with a waterproof jacket.

{Even an evening outfit can involve a change of footwear, and a waterproof cover-all in the colder months}

Yes, there are plenty of glorious autumn days in Scotland, but we also get more than our fair share of wet ones.

{Or a real 'mixed bag', like today... rain, sun, rain, sun, rain...}

This rain is often accompanied by wind.
Sometimes the wind is light and an umbrella is practical, but more often than not the wind is ferocious.
Many umbrellas are blown to bits, and find themselves in public bins shredded and mangled.

I love umbrellas but some days just call for a 'proper' waterproof... one that can withstand a soaking!

{This jacket came out on on a wet, but not very cold or windy, day.
And, this long coat during a storm that lasted for days.}

So, when the friendly people at Lighthouse contacted me, I was delighted to receive this waterproof coat from their new AW16/17 collection.

{To be honest, I was on the look out for a new one.}

I chose the Reva coat in a gorgeous plum colour.
Plum is not a colour I would normally pick for a waterproof jacket (I tend to stick to navy or green) but I am delighted with my choice.

Plum is a perfect shade for autumn, and will look great styled into winter.
I just know this coat is going to see a lot of mileage!

Lighthouse have paid attention to the details of this coat.
Contrasting trims, handy pockets, cosy linings...all of the things that really matter.

I was also pleased to find the coat true to size.
There is no annoying vanity sizing here, just a flattering fit.
I chose the UK 10, and couldn't be happier.

This outfit came together in a flash!

Tobacco coloured jeans (also styled here , here and here), chunky walking boots and a fluffy green jumper made a simple outfit that was perfect for a walk with Jake!

{He seems to have given up in this shot though!}

As the nights draw in, here in Scotland, late night (or early morning) dog walks become a dark and damp affair.
Any fellow dog lovers will know that sometimes you just need to get the job done and get back home.

How many of us have popped out to walk the dog with our joggy bottoms (or pyjamas) tucked into our wellies?
Throwing an oversized waterproof coat on over the top of a grotty hoody... or worse?

Hands up who is guilty?
{My shameful hand rises into the air}
Guilty as charged.

No one will see me, right?
Well....

We all know that dog walking can be quite a sociable event, if we want it to be. Especially if you live in an area with plenty of four legged friends and their owners.
If your walks involve a public park, or a popular route, then you never know who you might meet when taking the pooch out for his early walk!
A new friend?
Or even a shiny new beau!
