Winter Florals 2017, over 40

There is no denying that a floral design is the perfect summer staple, but things can get tricky as the mercury falls.
Summer florals can start to look out of place, and a bit 'silly'.

Fashion magazines may tell us that winter florals are 'on trend' but they can seem daunting to style.
No one wants to look like their outfit is awkward or disjointed, do they?

However, a chic (and grown up) winter floral outfit can be great fun to wear... and surprisingly easy to style!

There is one simple 'rule' that makes styling your winter florals as easy as pie...

Make sure the background colour is dark.
With a dark background colour, floral patterns can be all-season appropriate.
Of course, lighter background floral designs can also look great in winter, but are much harder to style.
(Check out Yvonne's post HERE, she makes it look easy!)
If in doubt go dark!
With a dark background you can't really go far wrong.

For this winter floral outfit I chose another one of the beautiful dresses (made in the UK) from Alie street.
After previously wearing a few of their dresses, I know I can rely on the weighty quality and fabulous fit.

Isn't it nice to know you can really rely on a brand?
So many brands these days are inconsistent with their quality and fit, which can be frustrating and disappointing.

A desire to avoid the uncertainty (and hassle) is what brings me back to Alie street.

{I must say at this point that Alie street did not pay for this post they just offered to gift the dress to me, which I was delighted to accept as I would have bought it anyway!}

A great floral design (like this one) does all of the work for you, so it's easy to accessorise.
One piece is often all it takes.
I chose a bold pair of floral earrings.
These are from H&M and look so designery (not an actual word!)... I love them.
Done!

The obvious legwear choice would have been a pair of navy tights and navy shoes (like the navy booties in this post) but I decided to toughen things up a little with these oxblood buckle booties and matching tights.

I finished things off with a navy handbag to tie in with the navy base colour of the floral design...
Well, this WAS supposed to be grown up floral chic after all! 😛

Will you be wearing winter florals this season?
What brands can YOU rely on?
Have any let you down recently with sizing issues or poor quality?

I love reading about your experiences.
